The GroupMe sites lit up when the Steller's Sea Eagle was spotted this past Sunday, 2/4/2023, in the same area as approximately this time last year. It is being viewed from the Arrowsic Bridge on Route 27 in Georgetown, ME and is generally perching in the spruce trees NW of the bridge some distance away. EVERYONE is again flocking to Maine from all over the US to catch a glimpse. Most of its time over the last few days has been perching in the pines from late morning until midafternoon while occasionally coming down to feed on the ice alongside the many Bald Eagles. By late afternoon, the Steller's seems to fly north upriver for the night. I am following all of the posts to see if it stays in the area, and contemplating heading up to Bath, ME again to try and see our famous Asian visitor. The attached pictures are from my visit to Boothbay ME where I experienced a beautiful flyover of likely the same Steller's Sea Eagle on January 22, 2022 at 3:03 pm. I was on a dock across from Fort Henry with many other Birders. My favorite birding experience of the year followed closely by finding Yellow-crowned Night Herons on the Cape
and helping with the banding of Saw-whet Owls.
