Pileated Woodpecker Pair creating a home! 5/04/2023

Dad Pileated Woodpecker was working hard to excavate the hole while his mate looked on. After a week or so, she moved right in and the two were in and out of the hole. I got back from vacation on 5/21 and have yet to see anymore activity at the nesting site so am hoping the female is still sitting on eggs. The sad alternative would be if the nest failed due to predators or some other natural phenomenon.
