Northern Harrier Success! 12/3/2022

This beautiful Northern Harrier was cruising over the farm field near where I live hunting for voles. Voles don't hibernate so they are a good source of food (sorry!) for raptors such as this beauty. She tried twice and came up empty-handed with just clumps of dead grass, but then the Harrier was successful on her third try. I was originally unhappy with this photo since the wingtips were out of focus as I was shooting at such a low shutter speed and f5.6. I think I do like that you can see the focus on the head and the wing blur is so symmetrical depicting motion. I'll take it for a bird in flight!
