Puffins, Razorbills, and Murres Galore! We were lucky enough to be able to stand in a small blind on Machias Seal Island while Arctic Terns, Atlantic Puffin, Common Murres, and Razorbills flew and landed everywhere. The birds were in their different stages of breeding from courting, egg laying, and feeding young. Little puffins are called pufflings! The Island is claimed by both Canada and the US and it is difficult to be able to actually board the Island since only 15 people are allowed on it per day for the months of June-July. Bold Coast Charters out of Cutler, ME organizes the tours and many are cancelled due to rough weather. We were lucky!
