I have certain locations that I check on ebird to see what my fellow birders and photographers have seen and Broad Meadow and Pattagansett Marsh is one of those places. Ebird is a wonderful research tool that is the result of birders like you and I adding to the database and recording our findings. A few days before, a fellow birder had spotted a LeConte's Sparrow feeding on seed heads right off of the trail near the bridge and the area was soon popular among us birders as this was a rare find! LeConte's Sparrows are a beautifully marked, "pumpkin-colored" sparrow that are usually found in the central parts of the United States and not in the east so this is a rare find indeed.
