It is so much easier for me to travel south of Boston rather than north- even on a weekend. That was partially my decision for heading towards Providence in RI to check out a new sight for owls. I lucked out and was able to see two Eastern Screech Owls as well as two Great-horned Owls high up in the pines. It was a sunny and beautiful winter day along the Seekonk River so all of the owls were basking and seeking out the sun. I followed my usual ethics, stayed on the trail, did not use a tripod, and made my observations/took my photos, and then moved on. I don't like to "camp out" in front of birds for hours at a time nor do I approach the base of the trees. Unfortunately, some other photographers were not so ethical...This site is also supposed to be a great location for spring migrating warblers and other passerines, and I have proposed a trip for my South Shore Bird Club this upcoming May.
