A little Fox Kit and its "Nip". 3/25/2024.

Recently, Newton, Chelsea, Falmouth, Wareham, Mashpee, Nantucket, and Plymouth have banned the sale of those small popular bottles of liquor called "nips". The City of Boston may be following suit in the near future. These little bottles are found all over as people suck down the contents and just toss them, usually out their car window, creating an environmental hazard. Some have suggested requiring a deposit on nips similar to beer and soda cans but, they are too small to recycle. Even in my small town south of Boston, they litter the side of almost every street and local park. The cinnamon whiskey Fireball brand is perhaps the most popular nip especially among underage drinkers as it is often compared to a Red Hot candy. Sadly, there was a great deal of pollution around a recent den of Red Fox that I had the pleasure to photograph, and a discarded nip caught this young kit's attention. Of course it was a Fireball, and this little kit was definitely underage. One of these photos would make an excellent billboard!
